Got snowed in while traveling through the area. Found the Last Resort in Adin thankfully before trying to trudge through more of the storm. One room left and I was hooked. David was splendid! True hospitality and a nice room to rest for the night before heading out again. Great views of landscapes from the rooms and the new updates look great! Would definitely stay again when I'm traveling through. A real gem in the middle of NorCal!

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Nowhere – The Last Resort, Adin, CA The Last Resort in Adin is an absolutely adorable experience. First and foremost, David—the owner—is a wonderful human being. Our brief interaction showed genuine care and kindness, which so many other reviews mention, and I can now confirm every word is true. This is a small six-room hotel, not fancy or modern, but it’s perfect for a small-town stay. We stopped overnight on our way from Reno to Bend, Oregon, and it turned out to be the ideal halfway point. Adin itself feels like the middle of nowhere, but that’s part of its charm. David pointed us toward the little general store in town, where the locals serve sandwiches and pizzas—one of the only dining options around, and surprisingly good! The owners and staff there were just as kind and welcoming as David himself. The hotel is surrounded by open fields and rolling hills, offering stunning night skies filled with stars. All the rooms face east, which means you’ll wake up to beautiful morning light. The rooms are simple but have everything you need: refrigerator, microwave, smart TV, and a full bathroom with a tub. The heater and A/C were new and worked great—our late-fall stay was warm and cozy. The space has a bit of a rustic, cabin-like feel, built with cinderblock walls that somehow just work. David has been personally renovating the property over the past 15 years, and it shows. Every detail reflects his effort and pride. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and everything you need is there—nothing you don’t. One note: the Wi-Fi isn’t great, so don’t plan to get much work done unless you’ve got your own connection (like Starlink). But honestly, that’s part of the experience—you’re here to unplug, relax, and enjoy the peace and hospitality that only a small town like Adin can offer. Highly recommend for travelers who appreciate character, kindness, and quiet comfort.

As a female traveling alone, I'm always weary of motels in the middle of nowhere, but I'm happy to say I had a fantastic stay at The Last Resort in Adin! Upon my arrival I was greeted by Dave, one of the owners, and he was so nice. He made me feel very welcome and we had a great conversation about the motel, the area, etc. I stayed in room #3 and though aesthetically it's dated, it was incredibly clean, everything worked, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable! I will absolutely be staying at this motel on my next drive through - in fact, I'll probably plan my next road trip around stopping here for the night! If you're considering staying here (which you should!), I recommend you call ahead and confirm availability because this is the only motel for hours in any direction!

My wife and I were on a road trip and Adin was the perfect location to stay to break up our drive between the Sierras and Portland. We called David, the owner of The Last Resort and he reserved a room for us. Nice large room and a comfortable bed. Adin is a pretty town with some old sawmill equipment near the highway. Highly recommended place to stay.

I found this motel to be a throw back. The owner was so accommodating. The room was huge! This is great for motorcycles who need to dry out their gear. Very clean, a small general store with fuel next door. Its a great location to stage up for the Lassen Volcanic Park.

I was camping with my partner near Susanville (Eagle Lake, Aspen Grove Campground) while the Dixie Fire was raging 30 minutes away. I called late - due to the circumstance, they accommodated us. It was a lovely little roadside motel. Truly was a last resort. Had a great sleep after a long night of driving. The owner was very friendly and had no issues with the room.

The owners are great. Room very large and all the amenities there. Stopped in as a weary traveler in a big hurry, and think it would have been nice to have a coffee and chat with them. Service and care above and beyond the ordinary and that's why I put 5 stars for everything. The world is a better place because of the Hunts.
